Miniatures by Chris Long

Image
I came across this American artist named Chris Long who specialises in 6in x 6in miniatures. This fits in with Elwin's desire for the group to tackle this format. They are oil paintings, Have a look at his web site or take a quick peek here first. Chris Long Gallery — Chris Long Painter Christopher Long Abandoning his focus from the prior decade as a sculptor and mold maker, Long began teaching himself to paint in New Orleans in early 2011. He initially focused on still life and portraiture, and then switched entirely to painting oil landscapes en plein air and from his travel photo references. He now lives part-time in New England and travels coast-to-coast in a motor coach with his family the remainder of the year. Long paints 2-4 originals a day. He posts each of his paintings to his instagram everyday. You can follow him.

YAM (Yarilla Art & Museum) Coffs Harbour Review

Image
YAM is the Yarilla Art & Museum space in the new Coffs Harbour building that also houses the library and Council Administration. Within YAM the museum is the first section you enter then the art areas are off this entry area. At the moment it is basically three exhibition areas. The central area is closed off, presumably while the STLL Exhibition is put in place. The previous artworks are in storage, and I guess they will feature in the central area once STILL is over. The work is high quality, pop in and have a look. It will change constantly. Area 1   Area 2 Area 3 The official description online.
